When he was small, my son asked me why I thought aircraft carriers were able to float. He explained to me he learned all about buoyancy on a children’s science show.
He expressed how amazing and wonderful it was that God created a world where something so big could float on water. He exclaimed, “God sure knew what He was doing!”
His joyful expression caused me think about all the times that we doubt God’s power. We often lose trust in Him or question his power to help us solve or deal with the complex problems in our lives.
We are like vessels, however, sailing the seas of life. Our faith in Almighty God keeps us afloat.
If He is powerful enough to create a world where all the variables of the universe such gravity, buoyancy, and atmospheric pressure are conducive to life, surely He has the power to be present in our lives even during our most fragile times.
It is our lack of faith in His power, not His lack of power that punctuates our anxieties in difficult times.
He presides even over the smallest particles in the universe. Therefore we are not beyond His reach.
As we face an uncertain future, never lose hope. God is with us at all times, in all places. All we need to do is be silent, seek His presence, and listen for His voice.
Keep the faith!
